Stolen meters of 18 rice mills in Ashtamanisha market of Bhanguraupazila of Pabna were found after paying money through bkash. Vavesh Chandra, Jebarat Ali and Mozammel Haque, owners of rice mills in Ashtamanisha Bazar of the upazila, said that their meters were stolen in the dark of night last week.
In the morning, a paper hanging from the connection wire of the meter contains the stolen meter number and mobile number for contact. Later meter owners contact that mobile number. As a result they were given a mobile number and asked to bkash Tk 6,000.
Traders experimentally first sent six thousand taka through bkash. The next morning his meter was found behind the mill. As a result, other mill owners also sent money to bkash and got their meters back on Friday.
AlhajUddin Sheikh, assistant general manager of Palli Bidyut Samiti’s Bhangura office, said that after the theft of 18 meters in Ashtamanisha Bazar, they were advised to get new meters but they did not take them.
Nazmul Haque,Officer-in-charge of Bhangura Police Station admitted the truth of the incident and said that even though the owners of the mills filed a missing diary for meter theft, no one agreed to file a case.
