REMAL RAVAGE: 113 deer victims discovered

Some 113 dead spotted deer of Sundarban were recovered from the different places of the Eastern Sundarbans (in Bagerhat district) till Friday May 31), according to reports received here.
On Friday morning 2 more dead deer were recovered from Majherkilla within Dublarchar Fisherman village under Sharankhola Forest Range in Bagerhat district. Including this 2 the total number of dead deer reached to 113.
Besides this, 4 dead bodies of pigs and a living python were recovered from the human habitations, adjacent to Sundarbans. All those wild animals of Sundarbans were killed by the cyclone Remal accompanied with tidal surge and torrential rains, is opined by Sundarbans forest officials.
Md. Khalilur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Dubla fisherman village forest outpost, under Sharankhola Forest Range in the Eastern Sundarbans told the newsmen at SharaankholaUpazila headquarters over mobile phones, after searching Dubla fisherman village and recovered 2 dead deer from there in Friday morning.
The officer apprehended that a good number of wild animals like deer, pigs etc were, perhaps, swept away by the cyclone Remal accompanied with the tidal surge were drowned. The officer added, previously the forest Sundarbans was eloquent with screechings by birds. But after the cyclone there is no screeching of birds.
