Speakers in a seminar stated that both Allama Iqbal and Nazrul Islam, two literary giants, have impacted on shaping societal consciousness towards Muslim renaissance, justice and human rights through their lives and works.
They have also stated that the writings of these luminaries can help build a world of solidarity and non-violence.
The cultivation of their works can help mould the young minds to struggle against injustice.
The speakers viewed their opinion in the Seminar titled “Verses of Harmony: Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal and Kazi Nazrul Islam” organsied by Allama Iqbal Cultural Society held in a city hotel on Thursday, presided over by poet Mahmudul Hasan Nizami.
Former minister M Nazimuddin Al-Azad spoke as the Chief Guest while Deputy High Commissioner Qamar Abbas Khokhar spoke as the Special Guest. Among others, Dr Anisuzzaman, Major General Ehtesamul Haque and former election commission secretary Dr Zakaria, spoke on the occasion.
Former minister M Nazimuddin Al-Azad, speaking as the Chief Guest, emphasised the enduring relevance of Iqbal and Nazrul’s works in fostering solidarity and unity among people.
“Their work was for the solidarity and unity of the people. Throughout their lives they have walked on the path of literature, politics, and values. They have won the hearts of people through their works,” he remarked.
He further underlined Iqbal’s role as the poet of Muslim renaissance and Nazrul’s contribution in articulating the songs of justice.
