City Desk :
The High Court has ordered concerned officials to submit a report on the number of legal and illegal foreign workers working in Bangladesh.

The inspector general of police has been asked to implement the directive.

The High Court bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed in this regard.

Barrister Sarwar Hossain stood for the writ petitioner. On the other hand, Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy, Assistant Attorney General Selim Azad and Anis Ul Mawa represented the state.

At a press conference held at the National Press Club on February 14, it was said that more than 1 million illegal foreign workers are working in different workplaces in Bangladesh.

As a result, the citizens of this country are being deprived of the right to be appointed according to their qualifications. An organization called “Oboidho Bideshi Khedao Andolon” presented that information.

Barrister M Sarwar Hossain, general secretary of the organization and a Supreme Court lawyer, said it is a constitutional right to be appointed according to one’s merit.

But in the last decade and a half, the problem of unemployment in Bangladesh has become extreme. The unemployment rate in the country is currently 12%, which is the highest ever.
