Staff Reporter :
The General Secretary of the ruling Awami League, Obaidul Quader, has criticised recent remarks made by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir concerning the murder of Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar.

Quader condemned Fakhrul’s comments, which implicated India’s involvement in the tragic event, describing them as inappropriate and unfounded.

“Fakhrul’s comments involving friendly nation India in Anar’s murder are not appropriate,” Quader stated and alleged that BNP leaders are spreading falsehood over the issue.

Quader further criticised the BNP’s stance on international matters, particularly regarding Palestine.

“The government is not concerned with who imposed sanctions on whom, especially those who support daily massacres in Palestine and the killing of children,” he remarked.

Earlier in the day, Mirza Fakhrul voiced his criticisms at the BNP’s office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka.

“The Awami League could not provide any information about their own MP who went missing in India.

Their aim is corruption.

We don’t know if this is one such incident,” Fakhrul said, suggesting negligence and possible malfeasance within the ruling party.

The tensions between the two major political parties have escalated following the discovery of Anar’s body.

The Indian police recovered the body of the Awami League lawmaker from an apartment in the Sanjiba Garden complex in the New Town area of Kolkata on Wednesday morning.

In a related development, DB (Detective Branch) Chief Harun Or Rashid indicated that Bangladeshi criminals are suspected to be behind the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar, who represented Jhenaidah-4.

The DB police are currently investigating the case to uncover the motives behind this heinous crime.
