Florida Republican Congressman Michael Waltz responding to reports on Sunday that Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter had gone missing after a “hard landing”, said it was a “good riddance.”

The Florida lawmaker also called the Iranian president, who is now confirmed dead, a “murderous human rights violator” and added that Iran would accuse Israel and the United States for the incident, according to international media outlets.

Taking to X, he said, “Good riddance. Raisi was a murderous human rights violator before and during his presidency. But watch out for the Iranian regime blaming Israel and the US for an assassination attempt as another excuse to support terrorism.”

Another Republican Senator from Florida, Rick Scott on Sunday said that “if Raisi was dead, the world would be a safe place” and added that he was not loved by the people of his country and “will be missed by no one “.

“If Raisi is dead, the world is now a safer & better place. That evil man was a tyrant & terrorist. He was not loved or respected & he will be missed by no one. If he’s gone, I truly hope the Iranian people have the chance to take their country back from murderous dictators,” Rick Scott on X.
On Monday, however it was confirmed that Raisi along with his foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollhian and other senior officials while travelling back from Azerbaijan died in the crash.
