Election Commission has appointed 3 judicial magistrates in 3 upazilas in Chittagong like 157 upazilas across the country to speed up the trial of various crimes centered on the sixth upazila parishad election. They will be on duty for a total of 5 days from May 19 to May 23.Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Law-1 Branch Assistant Secretary Md. This information was given in the notification signed by Al-Amin.
It is said that 157 judicial magistrates were appointed as first class magistrates for a total of 5 days from May 19 to May 23 on the occasion of the election of 157 upazila chairman, vice chairman and female vice chairman of 63 districts in the sixth upazila council election.Among the appointed judicial magistrates, Senior Judicial Magistrate Nazmun Nahar in Rangunia Upazila, Judicial Magistrate Fardin Mustakim Tasin in Hathajari Upazila, Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Dev in Fatikchari Upazila will serve in the election.According to the People’s Representation Order, magistrates will be able to take into account electoral offenses such as snatching of ballot paper, destruction of ballot paper, looting of ballot box, obstruction of voting, making polling station environment unfit for voting – these crimes can be tried summarily.
