A person named Jitu Mia (27) was killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar upazila. 5 people on the motorcycle and CNG were injured in the incident. The deceased is the son of Pailan Khan of Goalkhola village of PattanUP in Jitu Khan upazila.
The accident took place at Dattakhola area on Sheikh Hasina Road, the only short means of communication with Sadre Upazila through Pattan UP, which is surrounded by Haor, on Tuesday at 10:30 am.
Injured Pailan Khan (father of the deceased) who was in the CNG auto rickshaw said, I took my son Jitu in the CNG auto rickshaw to go to Brahmanbaria city in the morning. On reaching a place called Dattakhola on the outskirts of the city, a CNG auto rickshaw collided head-on with a reckless speeding motorcycle leaving the city, causing the motorcycle to fall on its seat. In the incident, everyone in the CNG auto rickshaw and motorcycle were more or less injured, the passersby rescued everyone and took them to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital where Jitu’s condition worsened and the doctor on duty declared him dead.
He also said that he received head injuries and the condition of the motorcycle riding boy was critical so he was taken to Dhaka for better treatment.
Asadul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bijoynagar police station, said that after receiving the information, police have been sent to the spot and necessary measures will be taken after investigation.
