Bangladesh Cricket team edged past Zimbabwe Cricket team by five runs in their fourth Twenty20 International (T20I) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital on Friday.

Sent into bat first, the Tigers piled up a fighting total of 143 runs in 19.5 overs and then bowled out Zimbabwe for 138 runs off 19.4 overs.

Bangladesh had a formidable start as openers Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar put on together 101 runs in the opening stand before Tanzid Hasan was caught at the point by Johnathan Campbell off Luke Jongwe.

Tanzid hammered a windy 52. His 37-ball innings was laced with seven fours and a sixer.

After Tanzid’s dismissal, Bangladesh batter failed to build any notable partnership.

Soumya Sarkar notched up a polished 41. He hit two sixes and three fours before he was trapped leg before wicket by Luke Jongwe when Bangladesh’s score was 108 for the loss of two wickets.

Apart from Tanzid and Soumya, Towhid Hridoy was the only batter of Bangladesh who reached double digit figure making 12.

Jongwe captured three wickets in the space of 20 runs, while Brian Bennett and Richard Nagarava bagged two wickets each for 20 and 27 runs respectively.

Besides, Sikandar Raza and Blessing Muzarabani took one wicket apiece.

Later, Johnathan Campbell, Ryan Burl and Wellington Masakadza shone with the willow scoring 31, 19 and 19 (not out) respectively against the superb bowling attack of Bangladesh bowlers.

Shakib Al Hasan captured four wickets instead of 35 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman grabbed three wickets giving 19 runs. Mustafizur Rahman was adjudged the Man of the Match for his economic and outstanding bowling performance.

In-form Taskin Ahmed claimed two wickets at the cost of 20 runs, while Rishad Hossain took one wicket for six runs.
