Staff Reporter :
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has accused the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) of plotting to create chaos in the country under the guise of movement, following their failed attempts at anti-government agitation and their defeat in the recent general elections on January 7.

Addressing a joint meeting at the Awami League’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday, Obaidul Quader urged vigilance among the party’s leaders and workers, cautioning against the politicization of Khaleda Zia’s treatment, which he warned could cause significant harm to the nation.

“The gathering of the BNP signifies arson, chaos, and bloodshed.

Therefore, if we let go of the entire capital to the BNP, it will jeopardize the safety of the people,” stated Obaidul Quader. He emphasised the necessity for the Awami League to remain active on the streets to ensure the security of citizens, asserting that violence and unrest are rooted in the BNP’s politics.

Quader asserted that the BNP refrains from participating in elections due to fear from voters, dismissing the validity of their claims regarding electoral processes.

Regarding the subversion surrounding the upazila elections, Quader called for vigilance among all parties and urged against engaging in conflicts.

Responding to queries about the peace during the BNP’s local government elections, Quader expressed skepticism, stating, “Even though they claim they have no blood on their hands, they are disappointed inside.”

He also emphasized the necessity for the BNP to return to constructive politics to regain the trust of the people.
The joint meeting was attended by Awami League Joint General Secretary Abdur Razzaque, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Quamrul Islam, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Central Awami League leaders, Dhaka North and South Awami League leaders, as well as allied and fraternal organizations.
