Dhaka Abahani draw with Police in BPL Football

Dhaka Abahani Limited drew 1-1 with Bangladesh Police Football Club in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Friday.

After yesterday’s outcome, Dhaka Abahani Limited took the third spot in the points table bagging 26 points from 15 matches, while Bangladesh Police Football Club took the fourth spot gaining 22 points from as many matches.

Dhaka Abahani’s foreign recruit Cornelius Stewart put his team ahead by a spectacular shot in the ninth minute of the play.

After the lemon-break, Police’s Mohamed Sheikh Bablu equalised the margin by a sudden shot in the 88th minute of the match.

Earlier, Police’s foreign recruit Azamat Abdullaev failed to head a ball near the Abahani’s post which he got on his way from a free-kick of his teammate Edward Morillo in the seventh minute of the game.

In the 24th minute, Police’s Abdullaev free-kick was bounced back from the man made wall of Dhaka Abahani.
Abahani got a corner in the 30th minute. But Jonathan’s shot went away the goalbar.

Abahani got another chance in the injury time of the first half. But Enamul Islam failed to put the blank net using a pass of his teammate Jonathan’s pass.

After the intermission, Abahani’s Navib Newaj’s spectacular free-kick was fisted by Police goalie in the 85th minute of the clash.

Meanwhile, Rahmatganj MFS made a 1-1 draw with Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on the same day.

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra collected 15 points from 15 matches, while Rahmatganj MFS earned 11 points from as many outings.

After a barren first half, Rahmatganj’s Ghanaian recruit Ernest Boeteng put his team ahead in the 55th minute of the game.

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s Serbian recruit Vojislov Balabanovic levelled the margin in the 62nd minute of the match.
