ACI Fertilizer Research Center organised a Field Day on Tuesday at Jhikargacha in Jashore. ACI Fertilizer used 500 kg BRRI developed bio-organic fertilizer per hectare in rice cultivation where no TSP or DAP fertilizers were used.
Also 30 per cent less nitrogen (Urea) has been used. By doing this, the yield of rice production has increased 80 KG per Bigha in the trial plot which is higher than other plot where recommended percentage of chemical fertilizer used.
In the field day, Sushant Kumar Tarafdar, Deputy Director, DAE, Jashore, Md Abu Talha, District Training Officer, DAE, Jashore, Md Masud Hossain Palash, UpazilaAgriculture Officer, Jhikargacha, Jashorewere present. Also on behalf of ACI team, Business Director of ACI Fertilizer, Kbd. Bashir Ahmed, Shah Mohammad Arefin, Kbd. Jahidul Islam and researcher Md. Rokibuzzaman were present.
Incidentally, bio-organic fertilizers developed by BRRI and marketed by ACI Fertilizer are usually made from vegetable residues, biochar and rock phosphate, beneficial bacteria etc.
Beneficial bacteria facilitate nitrogen fixation, make rock phosphate available to plants and provide hormones for plant growth.
It is noted that a MoU has already been completed with ACI Fertilizer for the production and marketing of bio-organic fertilizers developed by BRRI. The use of this fertilizer will save on chemical fertilizers. Apart from this, the desired yield of crops will be ensured along with increasing the quality of the soil and environmental protection will be ensured.
