Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communication technology infrastructure and smart devices, strives to pioneer technological advancements that safeguard the environment.
During a recent meeting with Bangladeshi media representatives at their headquarters in Shenzhen, Huawei officials reiterated their commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of their operations, saying that they are dedicated to environmental conservation.
The company aligns closely with China’s environmental strategies and offers technological solutions across various sectors such as mining, ports, oil and sgas, healthcare, and finance, Huawei consultant Medet Serik told the delegation.
Huawei’s focus on green energy solutions, including household solar systems designed not to disrupt local agriculture, underscores its dedication to eco-friendly practices.
“We are providing a green energy solution for households, and their solar system does not affect the local agriculture, and it can be used efficiently in the summer and winter seasons alike,” he said.
About Huawei’s investment in research and development, he said that in the last ten years,
the company has invested 23.26 billion dollars in research and development, while 500 plus companies are partnering with Huawei.
Notably, the company recently unveiled a groundbreaking 600 kW supercharger capable of rapidly charging electric vehicles, aligning with China’s push towards battery-powered transportation to mitigate carbon emissions.
“Our electrical vehicles are being popularised in China to cut carbon emissions and combat pollution as envisioned by the Chinese government,” Medet Serik said.
Recognising the importance of e-waste management, Huawei emphasises the need for comprehensive frameworks to address this growing concern.
“Our government has set a roadmap to cut carbon emissions through digital transformation. So solar systems are being popularised here,” he said.
Beyond environmental initiatives, Huawei provides robust data security and protection services to both local and global institutions, including government agencies and banking entities.
Collaborations, such as the memorandum of understanding signed with Bkash of Bangladesh, highlight Huawei’s efforts to promote financial inclusion and digital economy participation.
“We are providing data security for government institutions, banking, and insurance sectors. Currently, we are providing data protection for 53 global top banks,” he said.
Medet Serik said that Bangladesh can garner many supports from Huawei to develop the ICT and green energy solutions.
Huawei’s innovative solutions extend to agricultural practices, where warehouse technologies incorporating laser technology ensure crop preservation and minimise waste. Regarding the security of financial institutions, he said that they have a geo-redundant disaster recovery system to handle huge amounts of data and seven layers of defence systems to protect the data through cloud computing.
In pursuit of an intelligent and sustainable future, Huawei has developed cutting-edge technologies, including DNA storage systems and Intelligent OptiX Network strategies, aimed at building next-generation all-optical networks.
“We are building a robust, talented ecosystem for an intelligent future,” he said.
About the company’s strategy, he said, “Research and development is the golden rule for Huawei’s innovation. Keeping the green environment in mind, Huawei is developing new technologies for sustainable development for generations to come.”
He suggested that as Bangladesh explores green initiatives, such as transitioning to battery-powered vehicles to reduce carbon emissions, Huawei could offer substantial support in this endeavour.
“Before any development, nature protection is the priority of Huawei,” he continued.
According to Huawei, they have approximately 207,000 employees and are operating in over 170 countries and regions, serving more than three billion people around the world.
The Huawei officials said that their company can stand as a reliable partner for countries like Bangladesh seeking to embrace green technologies and sustainable development.
Prioritising nature conservation, Huawei aims to be at the forefront of driving positive environmental change for future generations, they said.
