Our Correspondent, Barishal :

The speed of internet service has significantly decreased due to a disruption in the connection with the Kuakata Submarine Cable Landing Station, as reported by our correspondent in Barishal.
According to Kuakata Submarine Cable Landing Station Deputy General Manager Tariqul Islam, the slowdown is a result of a fiber cable being severed under the sea route from Singapore to Indonesia. Consequently, the connection to the country’s second submarine cable landing station, situated in Kuakata of Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali, has been interrupted.
Customers have been experiencing sluggish internet speeds for the past week, with efforts underway by Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCPLC) to rectify the issue. However, it is anticipated that restoring the connection at Kuakata submarine cable landing station may take up to a month.
In the interim, alternative measures are being explored to alleviate the impact of the disruption. One such solution involves augmenting the bandwidth of the Cox’s Bazar submarine cable CMUI-4 to address the shortfall in connectivity.
Efforts are underway to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the disruption, with authorities working diligently to restore normal internet service as soon as possible.
