CULTURAL HERITAGE ALIVE : Pahela Baishakh celebrations bring cheer to dists far, wide

Pahela Boishak was celebrated in various districts with great enthusiasm on Sunday.
To celebrate the Bangla New Year, a Mangal Shobhajatra was brought out from various spots of different districts that paraded different streets of the town on Sunday morning. Later a cultural function was held on the collectorate building premises. Folk songs and Baul songs were presented at the function.
Sarishabari (Jamalpur) correspondent adds, Sarishabari Upazila administration brought a Mangal Shobhajatra rally on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh on Sunday morning. Chairman of Upazila Parishad, UNO, Assistant Commissioner (land), Upazila officers of various departments, people of all walks were present at the rally.
Apart from this, different types of festoons, colour banners, traditional materials of Bangladeshi cultures were brought in the procession rally. Chapainawabganj correspondent adds, Upazila administration brought out a massive Mangal Sobhajatra in Chapainawabganj. Apart from these, a discussion was organized at upazila auditorium on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh. Barishal correspondent adds, Udichi Shilpa Goshti and Barishal Natak organized the programmed in order to welcome the Bengali New Year. The massive inaugural programme held on Sunday morning by the performing national anthem, Mangal Geet. The biggest gathering of the Bengali New Year scheduled with the procession of Mangal Shobhajatra, the procession calling for yearlong well being for all organized by Charukala Barishal. This procession started from Udichi stage Brajo Mohon Vidyalaya(B M School) premises to at 8:30 am on Sunday morning with the honor of freedom fighters, Rakhi Bandan (friendship ties) festival and national anthem. Ishwardi correspondent adds, on the initiative of Upazila Administration, Mangal procession was taken out at 9 am. Pabna-4 Constituency MP and District Awami League Organizing Secretary Galibur Rahman Sharif Mangal led the procession. The Mangal procession started from Parishad Chattar, but the procession ended at the railway gate due to heavy traffic. After the procession, discussions, cultural programs, panta festival and stick games were held at Parishad Chatwar on the occasion of Barsvaran. Adivasis perform bow and arrow games.
The chief guest MP Ghalib Sharif called for the establishment of harmony and harmony everywhere by stopping all communal forces from the country and said that this Pahela Baishakh is the festival of Bengali life. People from all walks of life irrespective of religion, caste and caste celebrate the day together.
Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Commissioner (Land) TA Rahsin Kabir presided. Upazila Acting Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, Ishwardi Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami, Municipal Mayor Isaac Ali Malitha, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam, Bir Muktijoddha, officials and employees of various departments of the upazila, media workers and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
