The BNP-led 20-party alliance on Friday called for a fresh 72-hour countrywide hartal from Sunday morning. BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed made the announcement, in a statement, this afternoon. The shutdown will be effective from Sunday 6.00 am to Wednesday 6.00am. “The hartal would be enforced alongside the party`s ongoing indefinite nationwide transport blockade which has been continuing since January 6,” The statement added. The alliance has been enforcing a non-stop nationwide blockade and hartal programmes one after another after January 5 in protest against alleged confinement of the party chief Khaleda Zia and demanding to arrange a fresh election under a non-party caretaker government. –risingbd.com
