Defender Sohanur Rahman Sabuj slammed a brilliant hat-trick saw Dhaka Mariners Young’s Club thrashed Bangladesh Sporting Club by 9-1 goals in the first match of the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League held at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
Apart from Sabuj’s hat-trick with four goals, Khorsedur Rahman scored a brace while Sadaf Salekin, Rahid Hossain and Indian recruit Ajay Yadav supported him with a lone goal each for Mariners.
Besides, Indian recruit Prince Kumar netted a consolation goal for the lossers.
Sabuj put Mariners ahead early in the third minute with a field goal while he doubled the lead converting a penalty corner in the 21st minute of the second quarter and completed his hat-trick scoring the third goal again converting a penalty corner at the dying moment of the second quarter.
Rahid further widened the margin scoring the fourth goal for Mariners in the 35th minute of the third quarter while Ajay made the score line 5-0 with a field goal in the 40th minute.
Sabuj scored his fourth goal and sixth for the team converting a penalty corner in the 47th minute of the fourth quarter while Khorshed made the score line 7-0 in the next minute.
Khorshed scored his second and eighth goal for Mariners in the 51st minute while Sadaf made the score line 9-0 in the next minute.
Prince Kumar scored the only goal for Bangladesh Sporting Club in the 59th minute of the match.
