Tk. 12cr property remains unprotectedBhangura (Pabna) Correspondent :
Bangladesh Jute Corporation (BJC)’s Bhangura purchasing center has become dilapidated. Along with that, its property worth about 12 crore taka is left unprotected. Several lands have already been expropriated from here.
It is reported that this purchasing center under the Ministry of Jute and Textiles is very old. Then good quality jute produced in Chalanbil area was purchased from this centre. In 1997, the Corporation leased the center to another company. Since 2010, this center is no longer in use. On this occasion, the local self-seeking circles have seized nearly an acre of land in the purchase center. After that, it is alleged that the authorities do not pay attention to the center. As a result, the purchase manager’s residence, tin shed’s big warehouse has become dilapidated. There are also many valuable old trees here.
On the surface, a local man named Golzar Hossain alias Anju Bishas has built an animal farm inside the center. When asked about this, Golzar Hossain said, he has leased the purchase center from the corporation.
Manazir Rahman, deputy general manager of Jute Corporation Rangpur region, said that the 2.19 acres property of the purchasing center has been leased to GolzarHossain for 1 lakh 50 thousand taka for one year.
Admitting that some land has been expropriated, he said that the case is going on in the court. However, he said that the Ministry of Jute and Textiles has the jurisdiction to take any action including the construction of the border wall.
According to the experts, it is possible to raise the necessary funds by auctioning all the temporary assets of the purchase center and by that construction of the boundary wall will make it easier to protect this valuable property of the government.
