A fire-extinguishing exercise was held at the head office of Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Ltd, Gas Bhavan, Mendibagh, Sylhet on Sunday (March 10) with the help of Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Sylhet Division, by creating artificial monuments and fire.
The exercise was held under the guidance and patronage of the company’s managing director Md. Atiqur Rahman. Company Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam, General Manager Marketing North Liton Nandi, General Manager Marketing South Md. Rezaul Karim, General Manager Construction Engineer Nizam Uddin and other officers and employees of the company and many visitors were present in the event.
A number of fire fighting vehicles with high capacity ladders and sophisticated fire service equipment extinguished the burning fire and rescued some officials and employees trapped in the gas building and provided first aid to the rescued.
It is to be noted that with the help of Fire Service and Civil Defense, 32 trainees were given “Fire Extinguishing and Earthquake Safety Training” at the company’s head office on 06-03-2024. It is also noted that in the mentioned exercise, fire extinguishing from cylinders of houses , by artificially creating a fire in the drum and extinguishing it with fire extinguisher or wet cloth in the fastest time.
