‘Collaborative efforts to be taken to save environment’

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Sunday said collaborative efforts among ministries will be taken to protect environment and conserve biodiversity in the country.
He underscored the need for extensive planning and coordination to raise awareness among people about environmental conservation and promote tree plantation initiatives, reports BSS.
The minister was speaking at a preparatory inter-ministerial meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat here ahead of upcoming ‘World Environment Day and Environment Fair 2024’ and ‘National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2024’.
He said this year the World Environment Day will be observed in smart way, reaffirming his ministry’s dedication to fostering a greener and healthier Bangladesh through collective actions.
Saber urged all stakeholders concerned to join hands in making the World Environment Day 2024 and the National Tree Plantation Campaign 2024 a success.
During the meeting, various strategies and action plans were discussed to maximise the outcomes of the World Environment Day celebrations and the National Tree Plantation Campaign.
Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Additional Secretary (Admin) of the ministry; Dr Abdul Hamid, Director General of the Department of Environment (DoE); Md Amir Hosain Chowdhury, Chief Conservator of Forest; were present, among others, at the meeting.
