It is not possible to calculate exactly how many years legendary singer of the subcontinent Runa Laila rendered song for Bangladesh Betar, but it will be more than
two decades. Runa Laila
rendered some songs only for Betar, those songs became very popular.
After many years she again gave her voice in a song for Bangladesh Betar. Title of
the song is ‘O Brishti Tumi’.
Sumon Sardar wrote lyrics of the song, while Md Sadek Ali has composed its music. Sadek Ali has been working as a musician with Runa Laila for a long time.
Earlier, Runa Laila had rendered a song about children for Channel i in the tune of Sadek Ali. For the second time, Runa Laila rendered a song to the tune of Sadek Ali. But this time Runa Laila sang for the transcription service of Bangladesh Betar to the tune of Sadek Ali.
On February 29, the recording of the song was completed at the drama studio of Betar’s Transcription Service at Agargaon in the capital.
It is noted that in August 1972, the official journey of the Transcription Service began at Bangladesh Betar.
It is the first fully-fledged archiving facility of Betar in an independent country. The digital era of Bangladesh Betar started on June 18, 2001 through the launch of Digital Archiving Programme at the Transcription Service.
Director of Transcription Service of Bangladesh Betar, Md Anwar Hossain Mridha, Regional Director of Betar Rownak Jahan and many others were present during the recording of Runa Laila’s song.
After the recording of the song, Runa Laila told this correspondent, “After a long time, I was very happy to come to Bangladesh Betar. I was really impressed by the modernization of the Betar. And everyone’s sincerity impressed me. As I like the lyrics of the song, I also like its tune very much. It is hoped that the audience will like the song. Bangladesh Betar that even before that some of my songs have been quite popular. It is expected that everyone will like this song.”
While talking about Runa Laila’s this song, its composer Md Sadek Ali shared his feelings by this way, “Respected Runa Laila Apa rendered song in my tune earlier. But this time I had a dream about the song. I am blessed that Runa Apa rendered the song.”
Lyricist of the song, Sumon Sardar said, “Earlier Rafiqul Alam Bhai, Rathindra Nath Roy Dada, Abida Apa and many others have rendered songs under my written lyrics. However, this is the first song written by me in the voice of respected Runa Laila Apa. I am basically a poet. As a poet, I have been awarded the Salil Chowdhury Award. But this time, Runa Laila Apa rendered song which is written by me. This is a big thing like receiving an award. I am very optimistic about this song.”
Meanwhile, composer Sadek Ali informed that soon the song will be broadcast on Bangladesh Betar.
