Fortune Barishal will take on Rangpur Riders in the second Qualifier match of the Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur today. The winning team of the do-or-die match will take place in the final. The crucial match will start at 6:30pm. Private satellite channel GTV, private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the venue. Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal will lead Fortune Barishal as the captain, while wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan will lead the Rangpur Riders as the skipper.
Earlier, Comilla Victorians cruised into the final thrashing Rangpur Riders by six wickets in the first Qualifier at the same venue on Monday.
On the other hand, Fortune Barishal stormed into the second Qualifier crushing Chattogram Challengers by seven wickets in the Eliminator phase on the same venue on the same day. Chattogram Challengers were out of the title race.
Earlier, Rangpur Riders led the points table bagging 18 points from 12 matches, while Comila Victorians took the second spot gaining 16 points from as many outings. Fortune Barishal took the third position collecting 14 points from 12 matches, while Chattogram Challengers took the fourth spot earning 14 points from as many outings. Those four teams moved into the play-off phase.
Top-order batter Towhid Hridoy of Comilla Victorians is the highest scorer with 447 runs with an average of 40.63. Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal of Fortune Barishal is the second highest scorer with 443 runs with an average of 36.91.
Promising opener Tanzid Hasan of Chattogram Challengers is the third highest scorer with 384 runs with an average of 32.00.
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam of Durdanto Dhaka is the highest wicket taker with 22 wickets with an average of 15.86.
Left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan of Rangpur Riders is the second highest wicket taker with 17 wickets with an average of 16.76.
Right-arm spinner Mahedi Hasan of Rangpur Riders is the third highest wicket taker with 16 wickets with an average of 17.06.
