A superb century by Tanzid Hasan powered Chattogram Challengers to reach the play-off stage of the Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket thrashing Khulna Tigers by 65 runs in the 39th match of the Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the port city of the country on Tuesday.
Promising Tanzid Hasan hammered a hurricane 116. He hit eight sixes and eight fours in his 65-ball innings. It is the third century in the ongoing BPL Cricket. Tanzid was adjudged the Man of the Match for his terrific innings.
Electing to bat first, Chattogram Challengers piled up a mammoth total of 192 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then bundled out Khluna Tigers for 127 off 19.5 overs.
Chattogram Challengers grabbed 14 points from 12 matches, while Khulna Tigers earned 10 points from 11 matches.
Chattogram Challengers had a sorrow start as opener Mohammad Waseem (1) was dismissed when Chattogram’s score was just four.
Opener Tanzid Hasan and one-down Shykat Ali repaired the damage contributing together 56 runs in the second wicket stand before Shykat Ali (18) was dismissed by Jason Holder when Chattogram’s total was 60 for the loss of two wickets.
After Shykat’s dismissal, Tanzid Hasan and second-down Tom Bruce added together 110 runs for the third wicket partnership before Tanzid Hasan was bowled out by Wayne Parnell when Chattogram’s score was 170 for the loss of three wickets.
Tom Bruce remained unbeaten with 36. He hit two fours and two sixes in his 23-ball innings.
Wayne Parnell, Jason Holder, Nasum Ahmed and Mukidul Islam got one wicket each conceding 27, 29, 33 and 45 runs respectively.
Khulna Tigers lost their opener Parvez Hossain for six runs when he was dismissed by Bilal Khan when Khulna’s total was 13.
After Parvez’s departure, opener Anamul Haque and one-down Shai Hope mended the innings contributing together 54 runs for the second wicket partnership before Anamul Haque was dismissed by Shohidul Islam when Khulna’s score was 67 for the loss of two wickets. Anamul Haque made 35 from 24 deliveries featuring five fours and a sixer. After Anamul’s departure, Shai Hope could not stay at the crease for a long period as he was caught & bowled by Shuvagata Hom when Khulna’s total was 82 for the loss of four wickets.
Shai Hope scored 31 from 21 balls including three sixes and one four. After Hope’s departure, Khulna lost their wickets in regular intervals.
Shuvagata Hom grabbed three wickets in the space of 25 runs, while Bilal Khan bagged two wickets at the cost of 13 runs.
Salauddin Sakil, Shohidul Islam, Romario Shepherd and Nihaduzzaman picked up one wicket each for 15, 18, 25 and 29 runs respectively.
