The ‘Ami Probashi’ App has turned a long-held dream into reality by facilitating smooth and cost-effective migration processes, ultimately bolstering remittance inflow in the country.

In an effort to alleviate the struggles and reduce costs for migrant workers while enhancing transparency in migration procedures, the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment ministry and the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) introduced the ‘Ami Probashi’ App in 2021. Previously, prospective foreign-bound workers endured lengthy queues at BMET offices day after day.

To date, approximately 5.2 million individuals have utilized the services, with 2.8 million successfully securing jobs abroad. Sources reveal that migrant workers can now secure employment abroad at fixed costs solely through this app.

Gazi Md. Shahed Anwar, Deputy Secretary of the Expatriates’ Welfare ministry, emphasized that this initiative aims to streamline migration procedures and stimulate the national economy by alleviating the financial burdens and hassles faced by migrant workers.

“The ministry has initiated this Apps as a positive plan for making the procedures of migration sector smooth for boosting the national economy,” he said.

Mohammad Abdul Hai, Director of BMET, highlighted that foreign-bound workers can now obtain clearances hassle-free through the ‘Ami Probashi’ App, eliminating the need for intermediaries or agents.

“The foreign bound workers can get their clearances through online using the ‘Ami Probashi’ Apps hassle free manners. They need not go to any tout or agents for getting those clearances and other procedures.”

Migrant workers have lauded the app for reducing both time and financial expenditures. The digitalization of BMET processes, including the issuance of smart cards, has simplified the entire migration journey, offering convenience and peace of mind.

Initially met with reluctance from recruiting agencies, the app has now garnered support, with over 20,000 agencies registered on the platform. Md. Saif-ul-Alam, an official from Ami Probashi, highlighted the added convenience for recruiting agencies in submitting files to BMET through the app.

Former migrant worker Saidul Islam shared his experience, noting the significant reduction in time and expenses when utilizing the app for his subsequent migration to Saudi Arabia.

The streamlined process provided by ‘Ami Probashi’ has transformed the migration experience for many, making it more accessible and cost-effective.
