Mohammedan beat Abahani in Fed Cup Football

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited beat Dhaka Abahani Limited by 2-1 goals in their Group-B match of the Federation Cup Football at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.

By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited emerged as the Group-B champions.
Dhaka Abahani led the first half 1-0.

Grenadian Cornelias Stewart of Dhaka Abahani Limited put his team ahead by a forceful shot in the 39th minute of the play.

After the lemon-break, Mohammedan’s Nigerian recruit Emmanuel Sunday equalised the margin using a through pass of his Uzbek teammate Muzaffarov in the 51st minute of the match.

Eammanuel scored the match-decider touching the ball of the shot of his Ivory Coast teammate Dosso Sidik in the 54th minute of the game.

Cornelius Stewart got the ball on his way from a mistake of Muzaffarov in the fifth minute but later Muzaffarov cleared the ball and saved his team from danger.

Later, Muzaffarov’s shot bounced back from the goalbar.

Mohammedan were going to concede a goal in the 78th minute.

Abahani’s foreign recruit Washington Brandao’s shot almost went into the goalbar but Mohammedan goalie Shakib-Al-Hasan cleared the ball just in front of the goalline.

In the 88th minute, Shakib gripped a forceful shot of an Abahani offence player.

Meanwhile, Chittagong Abahani Limited blanked Brothers Union by three goals to nil in the day’s other match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
