Staff Reporter :
Environment, Forests, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury has urged the developed countries of the world to fulfill their climate commitments.

The minister made this call during the World Government Summit held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, says a ministerial press release.

Emphasizing the need for global solidarity and confidence, the minister said, efforts to strengthen the momentum created by the consensus of the United Arab Emirates during COP-28 should be continued.

Saber Hossain Chowdhury said the underlying “trust gap” is hidden beneath phrases like “adaptation gap” and “financing gap.”

He stated that there is a basic lack of trust behind concepts like the adaptation gap and the financial gap, pointing out that pledges on carbon emission reductions, means of implementation, and adaptation funds have not yet been met in prior COPs.

The minister called for concerted efforts to address this trust deficit, saying priority was given to build global trust and solidarity at COP-28.

In order to keep the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees, he said all operations must be grounded in science.

We need to find a quicker solution to the climate change issue that we are causing.
