‘BD-Sweden will work for cashless society’

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said it is possible to build a cashless cosicety with the help of Sweden government.

The state minister said this while the Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexandra Berg von Linde paid a courtesy call on him, at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday.

After the meeting, state minister Palak told the media that Bangladesh and Sweden will work together on building a cashless society, technology transfer, in increasing investment and increasing export earnings, creating employment.

They will also assign how to apply 5G technology to build a ‘smart Bangladesh’.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on various other issues related to bilateral interests, especially the development of the telecommunication and information technology sectors.

In order to increase investment in the information technology and telecommunications sectors, he urged Sweden to capitalize on the government’s pro-investment policies.

He said that in the next 17 years, following the partnership path of the past years, Sweden will cooperate in setting up research and development centers in 20 universities of the country to increase the export of ICT products and services, as well as the development of Bangladesh’s telecom infrastructure.
