Padma Bank PLC gets new chairman

The CEO and Managing Director of state owned Sonali Bank PLC Md. Afzal Karim has been appointed as new Chairman of Padma Bank PLC.

According to the BRPD circular DA/ 2024-998, Afzal Karim will perform the role of the chairman of the fourth generation bank until further notice.

Prior, he was managing director of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation. He had previously worked as Deputy Managing Director of Sonali Bank PLC and Bangladesh Krishi Bank respectively.

Afzal Karim was only awarded the Integrity Award among all MD’s and CEO’s of Banks and Financial Institutions under Financial Institution Division, Ministry of Finance for 2021-2022 financial year in recognition of his honesty and efficiency.
