Entertainment Report :
In the Pitha Utsab, which is being held on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the winter evenings were filled with smoky pithas, folk songs were performed, and music was enjoyed by the visiting pie lovers and audience. Cultural performances are scheduled daily at 5:00pm throughout the Pitha Utsab everyday.
The National Pitha Utsab 2024 was inaugurated on January 31 and will continue till February 10 to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of traditional sweets.
This year’s festival’s theme is ‘Bengalis in Fish and Rice, Tradition-Enriched Sweet Delicacies, There Are Artists at Every Home Amid Variety of Cooking and Sweets’. To highlight the cultural significance of Pithas (sweets), the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), has organised the festival across all 64 districts of the country.
Sweet artisans from various districts are participating in the festival with an emphasis on diversity and prioritising those who have upheld family traditions and preserved nearly extinct sweets. Each day, two artisans are participating at a stall, and an evaluation committee is assessing the quality, diversity and taste of the sweets.
In this process, the top three artisans are being honoured with accolades. Over 50 stalls are participating, and each participant will get a certificate from the BSA.
