A 40-day Cottage Industry Fair-2024 (Kutir Shilpa Mela) began at Abdul Hakim outer stadium in the town yesterday with the call for bolstering economic scenario here through revival of cottage goods.
Jamalpur Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Muhammad Baki Billah inaugurated the fair which was organised by District Spots Association (DSA).
On the inaugural session, a discussion was held at the fair premises with Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Moktar Hossain in the chair. Local Lawmaker Md Abul Kalam Azad addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
A spectrum of locally produced handloom and cottage industrial goods including leather products, jute-made products, processed agricultural products, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, design and fashion wares and other products are being displayed in the fair.
Abul Kalam Azad said there is a need for a holistic approach towards revival of the handloom and cottage industries.
