Customs intelligence has detained a physician of Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport’s health department on Monday (January 29) morning.
The detainee has been identified as MZ A Sharif, an on-duty health officer at the airport. He is the 27th BCS (Health) Cadre service.
Chattogram Custom House’s Assistant Commissioner Mohiuddin Patwary confirmed the matter to the media and said that the doctor claimed the gold was given by a passenger.
A passenger returning from Sharjah, Md Alauddin, arrived at the Chattogram airport on an Air Arabia flight at 9:30am on Monday and handed him the gold bars.
