5 cops injured in Shahjahanpur slum eviction

A police constable named Mehedi Hasan (24) was shot and five others, including the OC and IO of Shahjahanpur Police Station, were injured during a slum eviction drive at Shahjahanpur playground in the capital. This incident occurred on Sunday around 2.30 pm.

Mehedi Hasan, who was shot, was rescued and brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). The rest are being treated at the Rajarbagh police hospital.

Bullet injured Mehedi Hasan, who was shot, said that the slum dwellers suddenly attacked the city corporation and the police during the evacuation of the slums from the Shahjahanpur playground around noon.

We fired to prevent the slum dwellers from attacking. At the time, a bullet hit his left leg.

Bachchu Mia, Inspector of DMCH outpost police camp, confirmed the matter to the media saying that a policeman named Mehedi Hasan was shot in the evacuation operation led by Dhaka South City Corporation (DNCC) in Shajahanpur playground area.

The injured policeman is currently undergoing treatment in ward number 102 of DMCH.

Apart from this, five people including Shahjahanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sujit Kumar Saha and Inspector-Operation Maidul Islam were also injured in this attack.
