Chhatra League former leader chopped by rival faction

A former president of the Ward Chhatra League in Barishal city was severely chopped by the rival faction on Friday night. The injured Mehdi Hasan Mithun (35) is the former BCL president of Ward No. 10 of the city. He is the son of Abul Kalam Azad of C&B Road area of the city.
Barishal Kotwali Police Station OC Arichul Haque said that the incident took place in front of the Ladies Club on Raja Bahadur Road in the city around 8:30 pm on Friday (January 19). Police trying to find out who was involved in the incident and action would be taken accordingly. Victim Mithun alleged former organizing secretary of city BCL Pradeep Das, is behind the attack. Mithun said when he was reached in front of Ladies Club near Bangabandhu Udyan on a motorcycle after dropping his father-in-law Badsha Chowdhury at home, some miscreants named Pradeep, Hasan and Tapu blocked his way. They after stopping the motorcycle, started beating and chopping him.
Hearing his clamors, locals coming there rescue him and admitted at a hospital and miscreants managed to flee away. Mithun said that he had enmity with the attackers. But the matter has been settled and currently there is no conflict between them. However, he said that he does not know why he attacked.
The doctor of the emergency department of SBMCH said that the fingers and legs of the right hand were seriously injured by chopping and advised to send him to Dhaka.
