Champa will be regular in acting
Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
National Film Award winning actress Champa has not been acting regularly
for quite some time. Right now she is spending busy time with her family.
After a few days, her brother will come from USA. The actress must be busy with that time. That’s why she is not taking
any work at the moment.
However, after Champa’s brother left, she also said that she will go to America for a few days.
After coming back from there, Champa said that she will try to be regular in acting. While talking in this regard, Champa told this correspondent, “I regularly get offers to act. Offers of very good story based works come to me but all in all it doesn’t get done. Of course, I have to develop interest in the role that I will play. So, I am not thinking about acting for now. Because of that, even if some people contact me now, I have to turn them down because my brother will come from America after a few days. All of us should be busy with him. After a few days, I myself will go to America for a few days. I wish to come back and do some good works. Let’s see if anyone communicates then. If I like the story and the character, I will be regular in acting again, Inshallah.”
The movie ‘Tin Konnya’ is directed by late film director Shibli Sadik and produced by noted film actress Suchanda. The movie featured three female lead sisters – Suchanda, Babita and Champa – together for the first time in a film and Champa made her film debut with this movie. It was 1986. Although Champa wanted to act in only one movie, then against her will she acted in one movie after another and got the maximum five times National Film Awards.
Champa won the National Film Awards for acting in movies ‘Padma Nodir Majhi’, ‘Annyo Jibon’, ‘Uttorer Khep’, ‘Shasti’ and ‘Chandragrahan’. She acted in many more movies which will keep Champa alive among the audience for her performances.
Remembering the names of the special movies she acted in, Champa told this correspondent that ‘Bhejachokh’, ‘Sohojatri’, ‘Nitiban’, ‘Sorolrekha’, ‘Kashem Malar Prem’, ‘Abujh Hridoy’, ‘Bashona’, ‘Ondho Prem’, ‘Prem Diwana’, ‘Banechha Pori’, ‘Jogajog’, ‘Tyag’ and ‘Arjon’. Champa was widely discussed as a heroine by acting in these movies.
Champa said, “Especially at that time, I want to talk about the movie ‘Bhejachokh’ and Gautam Ghosh’s movie ‘Padma Nodir Majhi’. ‘Priya Amar Priya Aaj Aji Chithi Diyechhe’ or ‘Jibon er Golpo Achhe Baki Olpo’ from the movie ‘Bhejachokh’ – these songs were very popular among the audience. And I won the National Film Award for the first time by playing the role of ‘Mala’ in the movie ‘Padma Nodir Majhi’.”
