Ferdousi Mazumder will take the stage today with play ‘Dhushor’

Ferdausi Mazumder is a living
legendary actress of Bangladesh’s
theatre plays. Due to her acting in TV dramas and movies she is impeccable. Now she is not seen regularly in TV dramas and movies, but if she likes the story, this legendary actress still acts in dramas and movies. However, she is still more attracted to the stage. She acted in stage plays only when time and opportunity met. She acted in a theatre play last November.
And in the New Year, she is going on stage for the first time today.
Today Ferdousi Mazumder will act in the play titled ‘Dhushor’ of ‘Ek Guchchho Golpo’ of ‘Agantuk Natya Production-3’. The five other plays which will be staged at the same time are – ‘Porichoy’, ‘Swojati’, ‘Lukochuri’, ‘Somoy’ and ‘Nirbhoy’. The plays are written by Tahnina Islam and directed by Tropa Majumdar, Azad Abul Kalam and Pantho Shahriar.
Today, January 13, Saturday, at 5:30pm and 7:30pm, ‘Ek Guchchho Golpo’ will be staged in two episodes at Nilima Ibrahim auditorium of Bangladesh Mohila Samity in the capital’s Bailey Road area.
Ferdousi Mazumder’s daughter, actress and director Tropa Majumdar confirmed the matter yesterday.
While talking in this regard, Ferdousi Mazumder told this correspondent, “I have always said that I have a different love for the stage. That stage is my true love. I never left the stage. I have never compromised with the stage. I have left many jobs in life for the stage. First of all, I gave priority to the stage and still doing exactly that. This is my commitment – stage first. Whether I do anything or not, I will work on stage. I am acting in the drama titled ‘Dhushor’ of ‘Ek Guchchho Golpo’. For this, last January 10 and 11, I took part in the rehearsals on time. I like to stand on stage and act. I get a different inspiration now when the audience comes to see my performance. My gratitude and love to the audience. Also, my prayers and love to everyone associated with ‘Ek Guchchho Golpo’.”
Tickets for ‘Ek Guchchho Golpo’ will be available on the day of the show i.e. from this afternoon; the ticket price at the venue is Tk500/300/200.
Prior to this last November, under the direction of Tropa Majumdar, Ferdousi Mazumder acted in the new drama ‘Love Letters’ of ‘Theatre’.
Ferdousi Mazumder last acted in Biplob Sarkar’s movie ‘Agantuk’.
This past October, this movie was screened at the 28th edition of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival in Busan, South Korea.
The movie received a grant from the Bangladesh government in 2019-2020.
