Bangladesh playback
legend Andrew Kishore’s birthday was November 4. He died on July 6 of 2020. Three years after
his death, a special event was organised for him.
On January 10, a panel discussion titled ‘Modern Bengali Songs and Andrew Kishore’ and
a cultural function
were organised at the
auditorium of the National Library
Building in Agargaon, Dhaka under the initiative of Bangladesh Copyright Office and also under the overall supervision of artiste, music director
and audio expert
Zooel Morshed.
Presided over by Registrar of Copyrights
of Bangladesh Copyright Office Md Daud Mia, Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Ministry Khalil Ahmed was present as the chief guest in the programme.
Director General, Directorate of Archives and Libraries, Dr Salma Momtaz was present as special guest on the
occasion. Journalist and film director Khondoker Hasnat Karim read out the keynote paper in the function while wife of Andrew Kishore, Lipika Andrew was chief discussant in the programme.
After the discussion, Protic Hasan, Sharmin Keya, Ishika, Sajib, Shamim, Turjo and Rashed Zaman performed music in the event.
Asif Akbar, Hamin Ahmed, Manam Ahmed, wife of Ayub Bachchu, Ferdous Ayub Chandana, Debendranath Chatterjee, Dhrubo Guha, Monir Khan, Muhin, Sabbir,
etc were also present among many.
