Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have urged customs related processes, especially export-import products to increase the competing capacity of the garment industry.
A delegation of BGMEA led by BGMEA President Farooq Hassan made the request while meeting with Chattogram Customs House Commissioner Mohammad Faizur Rahman on Tuesday.
BGMEA leaders discuss the way to solve various customs issues, which are concerned for the garment industry.
BGMEA’s first Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam, Vice President (finance) Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Md Nasir Uddin, Vice President Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, former Director Anjan Shekhar Das, BGMEA Standing Committee on Trade Fair Chairman Mohammad Kamal Uddin and BGMEA Standing Committee on UD-Woven and Knit Chairman Md Nurul Islam emphasized on reducing lead-time in the world market, especially in the fashion industry.
He urged the Customs House to ensure seamless and faster services, especially to speed up the export-import product exemption process to speed up the process.
The BGMEA President Farooq Hassan also highlighted the challenges that the garment industry is facing in the current global economic situation.
The Customs Commissioner listened carefully to the issues raised by the BGMEA leaders and assured the Customs House taking necessary measures to resolve.
