Australia clinch their sixth ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup

A superb century by Travis Head powered Australia to clinch their sixth ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup defeating India by six wickets in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad of India on Sunday.
Travis Head hit a terrific 137. He hit 15 fours and four sixes in his 120-ball innings.
Head was adjudged the Man of the Match. Sent into bat first, India scored 240 in 50 overs.
In reply, Australia romped home making 241 for the loss of four wickets when they had 42 balls to spare.
Australia faced a disaster as they lost their early three wickets for 47 runs.
Opener Travis Head and third-down Marnus Labuschangne salvaged their team from debacle contributing together 192 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Travis Head was caught at the deep midwicket by Shubman Gill off Mohammed Siraj when Australia’s score was 239 for the loss of four wickets.
After Head’s departure, Labuschangne and Glenn Maxwell helped their side to reach the victory target.
Labuschangne remained unbeaten with 58. His painstaking 110-ball knock was belted with four fours. Maxwell remained unbeaten with two runs.
Jasprit Bumrah grabbed two wickets at the cost of 43 runs, while Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami got one wicket conceding 45 and 47 runs respectively.
Earlier, India had a modest start with two openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on together 30 runs for the opening partnership before Gill (4) was caught at the mid-on by Adam Zampa of Mitchell Starc.
Rohit Sharma and one-down Virat Kohli contributed together 46 runs in the second wicket stand before Rohit was caught at the cover by Travis Head off Glenn Maxwell when the hosts’ score was 76 for the loss of two wickets.
Rohit hit a polished 47. His 31-ball innings had three sixes and four fours.
Second-down Shreyas Iyer (4) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Josh Inglis when India’s total was 81 for the loss of three wickets.
Kohli and third-down KL Rahul built the most valuable partnership scoring together 67 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Kohli was bowled out by Pat Cummins when the home side’s score was 148 for the loss of four wickets.
Kohli notched up a remarkable 54. He hit four fours in his 63-ball knock.
Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja contributed together 30 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Ravindra Jadeja (9) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Inglis off Josh Hazlewood when India’s total was 178 for the loss of five wickets.
After Jadeja’s dismissal, India batters failed to make any notable partnership.
Rahul knocked a sedate 66. His 107-ball innings had just one four.
Mitchell Starc captured three wickets in the space of 55 runs. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewwod grabbed two wickets each instead of 34 and 60 runs respectively.
Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa picked up one wicket each for 35 and 44 runs respectively.
