Chhonda Moni’s three decades of music

Chhonda Moni is an artiste of modern songs. She started her journey in music in 1994 with the album titled ‘Mone Pore’.
As a cover song of six popular songs of Bangladesh and six popular songs of India, the album ‘Mone Pore’ got huge popularity at that time. This album song brought her popularity at that time.
After that, the listeners were impressed by listening to original songs in several other albums including ‘Ek Jonomer Sadhona’, ‘Ichchhe Kore’ in Chhonda Moni’s voice.
Chhonda Moni stayed in the world of music by loving it. However, Chhonda Moni lent her voice for playback song in a movie only. Title of the movie was ‘Mone Rekho Prithibi’. In this movie, she lent her voice with Andrew Kishore in the playback song which lyrics and tunes were composed by Abu Taher.
Chhonda Moni got primary lessons in music from Rajshahi’s Ustad Kanu Mohon Goswami. After that, she received training in classical music, Nazrul songs and modern songs from Ustad Robiul Hossain of Hindol cultural group.
This is the first time in her 30 years of music career that Chhonda Moni has composed a song. Title of the song is ‘Onekta Poth Ekla Ele’. The song was written by her friend poet Kazi Sohel.
While talking about 30 years long musical career and composing the first song by herself, Chhonda Moni told this correspondent, “I have graduated from Rajshahi University. I did LLB degree from this university. After that, no more attention was paid to studies. Because even though I studied law, my dream was to become a singer. I was surprised and impressed by the response I got from the audience from the first album ‘Mone Pore’. The love of the audience is still unbroken in my mind. I have my sincere gratitude to them. And in a long journey of 30 years, this is the first time I have composed a song. Everyone who heard it appreciated my tune and I am hopeful that the song will be liked by the audience. I have my sincere gratitude to the Ustads (teachers) and others who extended their hand of support at various times along the way of my musical career.”
Meanwhile, Chhonda Moni has been working as a voice artiste in SRK Studio for more than seven years. She has given the voice of Rudro in the cartoon ‘Rudro’ which is being aired on Maasranga TV. She also recently gave the voice of Jennifer Lopez in ‘Anaconda’.
In addition, Chhonda Moni has been doing Bengali dubbing of foreign series on various TV channels in Bangladesh.
Chhonda Moni is the daughter of Abdus Samad and Farida Samad.
Chhonda Moni alo said that apart from the song ‘Onekta Pothah Ekla Ele’, another original song titled ‘Mon Ojotha’ along with this song is going to be released soon after the shooting of its music video.
