Chattogram Bureau :
Vehicular traffic is normal in Chattogram during the hartal called by BNP-Jamaat. The presence of working people in public transport is noticeable.
On Sunday (October 28) morning, such images were seen in several areas of the city including Bahaddarhat, Muradpur, GEC, Kazi Deuri, New Market, Agrabad and New Bridge.
Various bus routes are plying from the new bridge area.
But the road is empty since morning.
The attendance of common people is less than on other days.
As usual, private cars, CNG auto-rickshaws, ambulances, pickups and passenger buses are plying on the road.
CNG auto-rickshaw driver Khorshed Alam told this correspondent, “Even if there is a strike, we have to go out.
The family goes by car. So, I went down the road with the car.
The presence of policemen at different points of the city is worth noting.
They say that they are performing their duty on the road to avoid any untoward situation.”
A helper of a bus called Gausia Enterprise said that buses of different routes are plying from the new bridge.
But passengers are less. Most of the passengers are working people.
Joint General Secretary of Chittagong Road Transport Owners Group Mohammad Shahajahan said that Hathazari cars are running from New Market.
Domestic route vehicles are also plying, but less. Besides, the long-distance bus is not running yet.
Because after a long time, the first hartal is called, so fear is working among people.
Port, customs activities are functioning as usual.
Trains left station in schedule time in different destinations.
