City Desk :
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam on Tuesday urged the people to protect the developed fields and parks in the city corporation area.

“We have built 18 parks and four playgrounds.

These grounds and parks should be maintained.

Even if the city corporation builds the ground, it will be used by the people of the area.

Therefore, the people of the area should be aware that there is no damage to the ground.

I appeal to the locals to look after the developed fields and parks and protect them,” he said, reports UNB.

Atiqul was speaking after inaugurating the freedom fighter Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal Complex Library and Madhubagh Ground in the capital’s Madhubagh area on Tuesday afternoon.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was present as the chief guest at the programme.

“We have built fields and parks with modern facilities by freeing them from illegal occupation.

Sports opportunities will help build a drug-free society.

One class wanted the Banani parking centre to be set up in the park.

Adults will park their cars there.

But I didn’t let that happen and built an open park for the public.

I will be responsible for maintaining the fields and parks through tenders.

Then it will be properly managed,” said the mayor.

Mentioning that road and drainage system development work has been done in the Madhubagh area, the mayor said, “Once upon a time, Madhubagh used to become waterlogged due to a little rain. Madhubagh is no longer waterlogged.

The drainage system has been improved.

When it rains, the water recedes in a short time.”
