Chattogram Bureau :
Chattogram Customs officials found 60 tonnes of dextrose, 15 tonnes of powdered milk, 1 tonne of coffee mate, 3 tonnes of menthol in the shipment of calcium carbonate.
An attempt has been made to evade the revenue of one and a half crore takas in this challan of false declaration, customs said.
The Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Custom House confirmed this to media after 100 per cent physical examination.
He said that GY Trade Private Limited of Old Paltan, Dhaka imported the shipment of four containers from China in MV Sky Wind ship.
The declaration was calcium carbonate (uncoated).
The AIR branch of the Custom House keeps the consignment under special surveillance on suspicion of falsely declared goods.
After noticing the matter, the importer tactfully announced that ROB would send the shipment back to Singapore instead of unloading it at the port.
Later, the consignment had to be unloaded from the ship under pressure from customs.
On Thursday (October 19), the consignment was 100 per cent manually checked.
Only 3 tonnes of declared product is available.
Another shipment from the same importer was seized by customs officials on September 20.
