‘Strict action if violence created in name of political prog’: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that if anyone tries to create a violent situation on October 28 centering the BNP’s programme in the capital, then police will hold back it severely considering of the security of people’s property.

The DMP commissioner said this while replying to reporters at Uttara West Police Station after inspecting the activities of the MRT police unit responsible for the security of the Metro Rail on Saturday (October 21).

“Any political party has the right to hold peaceful political activities, processions and meetings according to the constitution. In that situation, police must provide security.

But if anyone tries to create a violent situation under the cover of BNP’s October 28 programme, then it will be harshly suppressed, DMP Boss said.”

When asked, He said, “A vested quarter is trying to confuse ordinary people creating panic through spreading rumour over BNP’s October 28 programme.

But we can assure you that we will be able to ensure the security of people’s lives and property, baffling their ill motive Centring the programme.”

He urged people to remain aware of such rumours.
