Film director, producer Shafi Bikrompuri dies

Veteran film director and producer Shafi Bikrompuri, who passed away at 4:00am while in critical condition at a hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. He was 81.
He was born in Munshiganj. He got involved in the film business by presenting in the 1964 Hollywood movies ‘Anjelique’ and ‘Fantomas’.
In 1965, he was a co-producer of the movie ‘Gunai Bibi’.
Shafi Bikrompuri, a luminary in the world of cinema, has left an indelible mark through his direction, production, and cinematic presentations.
Notable works in his repertoire include ‘Arunodoyer Agnishakkhi’ and ‘Rajdulari’, amongst others, showcasing his talent.
His filmography also features ‘Daku Mansur’, ‘Bahadur’, ‘Sobuj Sathi’, ‘Sokal Sandhya’, ‘Matir Kole’, ‘Joj Saheb’, ‘Denmohor’ and ‘Obuj Moner Bhalobasha’. Shafi Bikrompuri lived in Gulshan of the capital.
After Magrib prayers in Munshiganj, he was buried next to his own mosque yesterday.
