Masud Pathik’s movie Street Philosopherabout 25 poets

The realms of poetry and philosophy are set to intertwine in a cinematic experience as director Masud Pathik begins his latest project titled ‘Street Philosopher’.

Renowned for his fondness for making movies inspired by poetry, Pathik has already brought two poetries to life, ‘Maya: The Lost Mother’ and ‘Nekabborer Mohaproyan’, drawing inspiration from the verses of eminent poets.

The third installment in his poetic journey, ‘Bok: The Soul of Nature’ based on the poetry of Jibanananda Das, is on its way to the silver screen.

However, ‘Street Philosopher’ breaks new ground as it brings together a remarkable ensemble of 25 poets from Bangladesh, including Nirmalendu Goon, Ashim Saha, Kachi Khandkar, Dr Tapan Bagchi and Aslam Sani amongst many others, in a movie that delves into the philosophical musings of French and German thinkers Michel Foucault and Bertolt Brecht.

While these poets will grace the screen, ‘Street Philosopher’ isn’t an adaptation of any specific poem.

Instead, it weaves together the philosophical thoughts of Foucault and Brecht into a narrative that explores the intricacies of life’s philosophy.

Masud Pathik, the director, elaborated on the movie’s essence.

The movie will be produced in both Bengali and English, with the intention of introducing Bangladeshi cinema to international audiences with the English version.

A poster for the movie was unveiled recently and the shooting of the film will start on October 15.
