16th International Children’s Film Festival to begin tomorrow

The 16th International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh is set to begin from September 7 to 9, bearing the inspiring slogan titled “Frame e Frame e Agamir Swapno” The much-anticipated festival promises a diverse lineup of children’s films that will entertain and educate, said a press release.

The festival’s organisers, including Children’s Film Society Bangladesh (CFSB) President Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Founder Morshedul Islam, General Secretary Munira Morshed Munni, Advisor Yasmin Haque, Festival Officer Moeed Hasan, and Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) Director M François Grosjean, shared details during a press conference held at AFD in the capital’s Dhanmondi area. Festival Director Shahriar Al Mamun presented a comprehensive overview of the event.

One of the most exciting aspects of the festival is the competition section where Bangladeshi children showcase their filmmaking talents.

This year, 17 films were submitted in this category, with nine getting selected for screening and three earning prestigious awards.

Additionally, the special film category received five entries, of which two will be featured.

In the Young Bangladeshi Films category, 35 submissions were received, with 15 films set to be screened and two to be recognized with awards.

The International Children’s Filmmaker category received an impressive 2,700 entries, of which 75 will grace the festival’s screens.

The festival will host three exhibitions daily at 11:00am, 2:00pm, and 6:00pm, except on the opening day, at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

This year’s edition will showcase 101 children’s films from 39 countries at two venues in Dhaka: the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and AFD.

All screenings are open to people of all ages, including parents, children, and teenagers, with no entrance fees.

The festival committee has invited the filmmakers whose works have been nominated for screening.

These delegates will have the opportunity to participate in various workshops and seminars tailored to their interests.

Two workshops are scheduled, led by filmmakers Mohammad Touqir Islam and Raihan Rafi.
