Three people were killed in a road accident on the Baro Pole-Horambi road in the Ghatla Hasan Huzur Madrasa area of Kadirpur union under Begumganj Upazila of the district today.
The deceased were identified as Arafat Hossain Shubo, 22, son Abdul Dayan, resident of Sardar Bari in Ghatla village under Kadirpur Union of the upazila, and his younger brother Mohammad Hriday, 18, and their cousin Md. Zahed,18, son of Kamal Hossain, resident of the same house of the upazila.
The accident occurred in the area when three brothers went for a ride on motorcycles. On the way, the motorcycle lost control over the steering and hit a tree and fell into the canal around 10.15 am, leaving two people dead on the spot and another was injured seriously, sub-inspector (SI) of Begumganj Police Station Md. Rafiqul Islam said.
Locals rescued the injured and first taken to Life Care Hospital in Chaumuhani Bazar of the upazila.
Later, another person died on the way to Noakhali 250-bed General Hospital, the SI said.
