The protesting teachers, who observed the sit-in blocking one side of the road in front of Jatiya Press Club demanding the nationalisation of educational institutions, have postponed their ongoing fast unto death programme on Tuesday, said Bangladesh Teachers Association (BTA).
As a result, the teachers will return to classes from Wednesday confirmed it the general secretary of Bangladesh Teachers Association (BTA), Sheikh Kauser Ahmed to the media on Tuesday night .
Earlier, leaders of teachers association went to the office of Awami League in city’s Dhanmondi at the invitation of Prime Minister’s political adviser Kabir Bin Anwar on Tuesday evening.
Later, they had a meeting around 8 pm.
Leaders of Awami League education affairs sub-committee including Deputy Minister for Education Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel were present.
It may be mentioned that teachers have been observing sit-in programme since 11 July.
