Chattogram Bureau :

Viral disease dengue usually occurs from August to December. But this year the dengue outbreak has increased before the scheduled time. About 83 per cent of this year’s total cases were detected in July, which is worrying – say the doctors.
A person is infected with dengue fever within four to six days after being bitten by a dengue-carrying mosquito. Again, if a person infected with dengue is bitten by a sterile Aedes mosquito, that mosquito becomes the vector of dengue fever.
By this way, dengue spreads from one person to another through mosquitoes. According to Chattogram Health Department, 16 of the people who died of dengue this year died in July, which is several times more than this time of other years. No one died of dengue in 2020, but 5 people died in 2021 and 41 people died in 2022.
But what is alarming is that only one person died till July last year but 25 people died till July this year. Doctors said that shock syndrome and hemorrhagic conditions are one of the causes of death in dengue.
According to the Chattogram Civil Surgeon’s office, 2 thousand 776 people have been affected by dengue in Chittagong this year. Among them, 2 thousand 311 people were infected in July, which is 83.24 per cent of the total affected this year. Last June, only 283 people were infected with dengue. Besides, 53 people in May, 18 people in April, 12 people in March, 22 people in February and 77 people were found infected with dengue in January.
On the other hand, 5 thousand 445 people were infected with dengue in Chattogram last year. Among them, 730 people in December. Two thousand 7 people were infected with dengue in November.
In October, the number of dengue cases was 1,861. Moreover, there were 601 people in September, 114 people in August, 64 people in July and 19 people in June.
However, although there were no dengue cases in May, 9, 4, 1 and 3 dengue cases were found in January, February, March and April respectively. Meanwhile, after analyzing the situation of dengue in the first 7 months of this year, health experts indicated that its prevalence may increase in the coming days.
