Govt’s step down our only demand: BNP

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said at a youth rally in Bogura that they have only one demand and that is immediate step down of the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“The country’s people now know one point, one demand. It is Sheikh Hasina
government’s resignation. The demand will be realised on the street,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a youth rally in the playground of the Central School, Bogura.
The BNP secretary general said, “There will be only one election to be held and that will be held under caretaker government. There is only one demand here and that is Sheikh Hasina government’s immediate step down from the post of Prime Minister.”
As part of the ongoing anti-government agitation, BNP’s front wing Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Swecchasebak Dal jointly organised the rally with the participation of the 16 districts youth organizations of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “We are not wanted to go power. This agitation is not for taking power. But we want to return democracy among the people.”
“There is no voting right to the people, they also have lost of their freedom of expressions. This government has snatched every right from the people,” he said.
The BNP Secretary General asked the youths to wake up and strengthen the movement against the misrule of the government.
Swecchasebak Dal President SM Jilani presided over the rally. It was addressed by Rajshahi Division BNP’s Organising Secretary Advocate Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Rangpur Division’s Organising Secretary Asadul Habib Dulu, Bogura District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha, Jubo Dal president Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Jubo Dal acting General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Milton, Swecchasebak Dal General Secretary Rajib Ahsan, Chhatra Dal President Kazi Raunoqul Islam Srabon and General Secretary Saif Mahmud Jewel. At that time, two chairs on the podium were kept empty showing honour to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia nd acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “The government always loud about development, but which means the development? Constructing of one or two flyovers does not mean development to the people.”
“They all time talk about huge production of electricity but now people are suffering from acute load shedding across the country,” he said. Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the youths fail to get any job without getting any recommendation from Awami League men.
He said the government failed to bring fare share from Teesta River.
